Minutes


  1. Rick Kurtz welcomed everyone and called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.


Present: Rick Kurtz, Adrian and Victoria Makohoniuk, Lyla Vanin, Sylvia Hornibrook and Sandra Andrusiak

  1. Sandra Andrusiak read the minutes from the November 17, 2011 meeting and moved they be accepted with a note that the meeting date was changed, Sylvia Hornibrook seconded; carried

That the minutes of the Nov 17, 2011 meeting be accepted as read.

  1. Secretary, Sandra Andrusiak stated she had no correspondence.
    1. Rick Kurtz presented an e-mail from Flo Miller regarding the grass cutting contract.
    2. Lyla Vanin purchased a Founding Membership.
  2. Treasurer, Sandra Andrusiak presented a written financial statement of $4,401.90 plus Interest.

That the treasurer’s report be accepted as read.

  1. Reports:
    1. Adrian Makohoniuk wasn’t able to speak to anyone regarding the road.
    2. Adrian Makohoniuk stated there was nothing to report from the Rec Board Meeting.
    3. More information is welcome to be put on the web site which is:

 www.pellyheritage.ca

  1. Old Business:
    1. E-mail from Flo Miller.
    2. Copies of proposed changes to Constitution was circulated and changes need to be brought to the AGM.
    3. Date for AGM has been set for Tuesday, March 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the Community Hall. Adrian Makohoniuk will bring doughnuts.
  2. New Business:
    1. We will not have a table at the Lions Trade Fair on March 3.
    2. Heritage Saskatchewan

    1. Activities for the upcoming year
      1. Fundraising for Red River Cart
      2. Maintenance of sites
        1. If we are awarded the contract.
      3. Signage (Fort Pelly)
        1. Our requests for highway signs seem to fall on deaf ears. Perhaps we need to make our own and put them on private land.
      4. Road maintenance to Fort Livingstone is being worked on.
      5. Sign at Fort Livingstone
        1. Lyla Vanin is willing to redo sign. Sign to be placed at entrance by gate. Adrian Makohoniuk suggested we ask Lyle Reine to put an acrylic finish on it. Sandra Andrusiak suggested the possibility of a guest book being placed there if we figure out a way for it not to be damaged by weather.
        2. Lyla Vanin is to check how bad the Snake sign is as to it needing to be redone.
      6. Portage suggestion has been cancelled due being too much but there is the possibility of a hiking trail.
      7. Brochure distribution:
        1. Rick Kurtz is working on a list of where to put them and people will take if they are going there.
        2. Rick Kurtz is looking into getting some put into Norquay for their Centennial.
      8. What are we working on?
        1. Rick Kurtz is working on a web site and a powerpoint presentation that can be shown at schools and other groups.
        2. Membership drive needs to continue.
        3. Red River cart

That we purchase a Red River Cart to be made by Jerome Armand of Manitoba and that we send a $500 deposit.
